I had the opportunity to read this book and I could not have been more impressed with the story and how descriptive each horse breed was presented. This reader is perfect for 2nd to 6th grader (and maybe older if they are just becoming interested in horses.). I love that it had dyslexic friendly font throughout.

Tiffany Lauer

In 2014, a daughter was born, and Tiffany started looking for horse books to read and share and build her daughter’s library. With a lack of horse books available for young readers, Tiffany decided to write a book about Elvis the Pony, and the rest is history.

Tiffany discovered Leah Patton’s art – Shlei Original Art – during Breyerfest 2020, and now they have 7 books published. All have been translated into Spanish, and they currently have 20 working titles and storyboards for additional books.

Tiffany Lauer started riding horses when she was three years old, and she has been horsin’ around ever since. In elementary school, she got her first horse, an Appaloosa named Oatmeal, and a Welsh pony named Misty (after Misty of Chincoteague, of course).

She started out in horse 4H in 5th grade, and as her horsemanship grew, she acquired a grey Arabian show horse named MAF Bandolino. “Bandy” took her to 4H State several times in Trail class, and she had success in Western Pleasure, English, and other rail classes.

In 1992, Tiffany fell in love with barrel racing and speed events, and her parents surprised her with Wiseman’s Dakota, a bay Quarter horse mare, on Christmas Eve.

Dakota and Tiffany qualified for State several years in a row in barrel racing and pole bending, and they held the arena record for fastest Texas Flag Race time for years at the Mason City, Iowa fairgrounds arena. Dakota saw Tiffany through her college rodeo years at Iowa State University as well.

During college, Tiffany took on riding lesson clients, trained horses, and was the Equestrian Director at Camp Little Cloud in Dubuque, Iowa for several summers. At one point, she was a clinician/presenter at both the Iowa Horse Fair and Nebraska Horse Fair where she shared her love and expertise of ground work and creating partnerships with horses.

In 2010, Tiffany moved to Des Moines with her husband, David, and they started a riding and boarding facility called Magistaad Stables. Elvis the Pony came into their lives in 2011 and became a favorite for lessons and summer camps.
